A very fine quality mid-Victorian 12-arm frosted-glass chandelier, that we have fully restored and rewired in our workshop.
Its 12 solid ribbed-glass arms are arranged on two tiers, comprising of 8 large S-arms on the lower level, with frosted nozzles and pans, and 4 smaller up-arms on the upper level, with plain nozzles and pans in the van dyke style.
The main baluster stem of frosted glass pieces is formed as a fountain. The metalwork retains its original silver-plate finish.
The chandelier has a pretty tulip sitting atop the canopy. The canopy is dressed with triangular drops that alternate with 4 strings of octagonal buttons and connection pieces that hang down to the back of the lower arms. Drapes of octagonal buttons go from arm to arm and plain triangular drops adorn all 12 pans. In addition, pear drops hang from the receiver and very bottom pan, and a frosted bubble completes this delightful chandelier.
